Postcard #04: The Plane Going Home
A civilian flying pod on final approach over a flooded coastal city. The holiday is over. Home is the lights under the hull.
Postcard #04: The Plane Going Home
The holiday ended hours ago. What is left is the approach: a flying pod low over the flooded quay, cabin windows lit like a row of small rooms someone still lives in.
Nobody waves. On the skybridge the rain takes the coats, and a paper bag darkens at the corner. Home is the city under the hull, cyan and magenta and tired amber, and it does not look up.
The pod slows. The postcard is mailed from the air, before the quay remembers it.
