Postcard #01a: The Arrival Platform
A nearly empty elevated platform at the end of the afternoon. One figure, a paper travel bag, the city falling into violet-blue shadow — the first card mailed home from a year that never arrived.
Postcard #01a: The Arrival Platform
The vehicle has already gone. What remains is the platform — an old metal railing still holding the afternoon, one traveler who did not board, a paper bag that looks older than the city beneath it.
From up here the coastal grid is almost gentle. Layered streets, pedestrian bridges, quiet towers standing in the haze as if they have always been there. Cyan and amber signs fade instead of announcing. The water is only a rumor at the edge of the frame.
This is the first postcard that made it back. Someone stood here in 2080, or in a year that only remembers itself as 2080, and mailed home the feeling of arriving after everything important had already left.
Quiet. Ordinary. Still hopeful enough to send.
